Downloading Files

How Do You Download a File from Mediaseed?

The following is a step by step account of how to select and download content from Mediaseed. Please make sure that you are logged in using your email address and password.

Select the Story that you are interested in by clicking on either the headline of the Story, or the "more" link at the end of the text advisory.

You will then be taken to a dedicated Story Page. Once here you will have the opportunity to retrieve various media assets including video, audio and text documents. To begin your download process, you may either select "Download" from the Main Story Menu or from the "Other Assets" list below.

You now have two choices to download assets:

  1. 1. Direct Download:

Click "Download" and select the Asset Type of your choice (e.g.: MPEG2, Windows Video, QuickTime Video) or on the download icon image next to it.

For PC users: right-click and select "Save Target As…" to download the file directly to your local or network drive (this works best in Internet Explorer).

For MAC users: hold down the "Control" key then click and select "Save Link As…" (this works best in Safari).

  2. 2. Add Asset:

Check the tic-box next to the Asset Type of your choice image. Continue to check the tic-boxes of all Assets you wish to order. Once you have selected your Assets, click on the "Order" button beneath.

If you choose to "Add Asset", your selected Assets are added to your basket, viewable by clicking on "View Current Downloads" button at the top of the page. After reviewing your selection of downloads press the "Checkout" button. If you wish to remove any item, click "Remove" next to that item, then you can continue to add items, or proceed directly to Checkout.

Based on your Preferences, the Checkout Page gives you the option of obtaining the Asset via FTP Pull, Tape Request or Satellite Request. Select your delivery method for each Asset, then select "Update" at the bottom of the page. You can "Continue Browsing" by clicking on that button at the bottom, or proceed directly to "Checkout" by clicking on that button at the bottom or the top right.

You will then receive a follow-up email that will either include information on how to obtain the asset via FTP or verify the tape/Satellite Request. You may also access them immediately at: ftp://ftpcontent.medialink.com Please note that you will be prompted to enter your login credentials (email address and password). PC users may open the FTP link Windows Explorer. In IE, this option is selectable under the "View" tab at the top of the browser.

Please note that to retrieve files we highly recommend you use a download manager.

For PC users, try WS_FTP, which you can download here: http://www.ipswitch.com/products/ws_ftp/index.asp Or FileZilla, which you can download here: http://filezilla-project.org/
